Day of Prayer and Fasting

We wanted to write a quick post to say THANK YOU for praying and fasting alongside us. We were honestly blown by your response to join in. There were over 60 people, from 6 different countries and many US states, who prayed and fasted for us on August 13th! To say we were encouraged would be an understatement. We felt God's tangible presence that day!

It was also amazing to see how other people were equally blessed and encouraged. One friend of mine sent me a text early Friday morning (on the 13th) asking what he could pray for (besides our housing need) and it took me an hour or so to get back to him. I told him I'd love for him to pray for us to meet the right people in STL. He sent me a text back saying that's exactly what he felt like God wanted him to pray for us! This happened several times with other people throughout the day.

Another outcome from our day of prayer and fasting is that we have clarity around what we need to do next. For awhile we thought it would be best to purchase a home instead of renting (which we've done for the past 8 years!). We are certain now that we should rent.

What I realized in this process is that I continued to have a kingdom mindset of scarcity, not abundance. Jesus said to "seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Mt 6:33). He doesn't say, "work everything out for yourself then I'll bless you."

Jesus has blessed us financially far more than I thought he would as we have stepped out to raise funds to start a new church. Instead of trying to control this money, to make it last longer, he wants us to continue trusting in him for our every need (I should have learned this lesson by now, right?!). Even though renting was something we need not want to do, we're at peace with this decision and now have a renewed zeal to get to STL and join Jesus in his kingdom work.

Please pray for us as we seek to find a rental space. Pray the right doors to open and an affordable place for us to live. Thank you again for joining us in this kingdom work!
