I feel like I blinked and suddenly it is already half-way through December! This has been such an interesting season for Anthony and I - experiencing new rhythms in our lives and learning and adjusting to parenthood, which makes time fly even more than I've ever known. This season has been so sweet and we have experienced God's provision and goodness in so many ways since starting this journey. He is moving and we love being co-workers with Him!
During dinner in our house fellowships we share "God sightings", which are places we have seen the Lord work in our lives. I have too many to share them all, but this semester we have seen:
- God heal our friends of an infertility diagnosis given to them 4 years ago. They gave birth to their first daughter last month and she is such a gift!
- God provide for us financially whenever we have a need. In October we had to replace Anthony's tires on his car, and that same week a friend sent us some unexpected financial support, unaware of our need at the time.
- Our friends had a large medical bill of $5,000 wiped completely clean by the hospital they went to. This was especially healing as it was a bill for a miscarriage they had earlier this year.
Our prayer this semester has been that God will send us those who are longing for more of him and for deeper community. We have seen him do that and it is a joy to offer a means of grace to others. Anthony and I have been leading/involved in a regular learning community, house fellowships, regular Sunday gatherings, and starting/mentoring multiple bands. In some ways this work feels slow - as we believe that discipleship is not a program we can roll out, but has to be organic and through relationship. But we see the seeds that God is planting and we are so excited for the continuing work ahead!
